WHERE TO STAY ON PHU QUOC?

We chose to stay at the beautiful New World Phu Quoc Resort. While it’s not the cheapest option on Phu Quoc, the prices reflect the luxury of a beautiful private two-bedroom villa. The resort has the most amazing beach on the island, and its overall beauty is unparalleled.

Breakfast in the New World Phu Quoc Resort is quite impressive compared to other 5-star hotels in Vietnam. There is an entirely vegetarian/vegan section offering vegetable noodles, fried vegetables, tofu, and fresh fruit.

The hotel also provides a few vegan options, such as vegan burgers, spring rolls, soup, fries, and ice cream. Though the prices are quite high, we only tried a few snacks and chose to eat our lunch and dinner outside the resort.

BEST VEGAN FOOD ON PHU QUOC

We traveled through several destinations in Vietnam, but Phu Quoc was the most challenging regarding vegan food options. Compared to other Vietnamese tourist destinations, the island is not very vegan-friendly.

However, during our few days there, we managed to find some plant-based options.

Nhà Hàng Chay NẤM

This is one of the best vegan restaurants to visit on Phu Quoc. They offer a wide menu with various appetizers like spring rolls, dumplings, mushrooms with sauce, and more. You can also enjoy different types of traditional Vietnamese soups and noodles.

The ambiance of the restaurant is really nice, and the food is delicious.

Maharaja Lounge – Authentic Indian 100% Veg Restaurant

This vegetarian Indian restaurant is known for popular dishes like vegan butter chicken, samosas, and paneer tikka masala. The food is authentic and high quality, with an extensive menu and great vegan options.

The staff is very friendly, making it a great choice if you start craving some good vegan Indian food on your Phu Quoc vacation.

Nora’s Café on Phu Quoc

There aren’t many vegan breakfast options on the island, so if you don’t have breakfast at your accommodation, this café is a great choice. It’s perfect if you love colourful smoothie bowls like me. Before ordering your smoothie bowl, just make sure they make it vegan.

You can also enjoy avocado toast, which isn’t the easiest to find on Phu Quoc Island.

Quán Ăn Chay Thiện Nam

This was our favourite vegetarian restaurant in this part of the Island. Most of the dishes are vegan. The owners are very friendly, and the food is amazing and affordable. If you want to experience truly local food, you have to visit this restaurant.

Istanbul Beach Club

This cute beach bar and restaurant is located on our favourite Khem Beach on Phu Quoc Island. You can find a few vegan snacks there, like the hummus and falafel plate. Just check before ordering that everything on the plate is vegan.

They also have mango and tropical smoothie bowls, both of which are vegan. For a delicious snack on the beach, you can also order a fruit platter.

Quán chay Thiên Phúc

This restaurant offers an amazing variety of vegan options. You can create your own vegan plate from the buffet. The food is very good and affordable, and the mock meats are all amazing.

Street food in Sunset Town on Phu Quoc

There is a night market every day in Sunset Town. While there aren’t a lot of options, you can find a few vegan snacks at the food stalls. It’s a fun way to experience local street food.

As you can see, Phu Quoc offers some plant-based dining options that can make your stay both enjoyable and fulfilling. There are cozy cafes on the beach and local restaurants where you will find some great options.

When you are visiting the island, try not to only eat in a resort. When you explore these vegan-friendly spots, you will not only get to enjoy delicious, local, plant-based meals, but you will also support local businesses that are trying to create vegan-friendly food.

So, while Phu Quoc may initially seem like a challenging destination for vegans, it is possible that with a little exploration, you can find some delicious plant-based options on this beautiful island. Also, more and more restaurants are adding plant-based options to their menus.

WHAT TO DO ON PHU QUOC

When visiting Phu Quoc, one of the best activities is going on a fun tropical adventure by speedboat to explore the island. You can snorkel and visit some of the most gorgeous islands in the area.

Do not forget to visit Sunset Town, a Mediterranean-style town on the southwest coast of the island. It’s one of the most unique places we visited in Vietnam, making you feel like you’re on the other side of the world.

While there, enjoy a unique outdoor performance called Kiss The Sea Show that combines water music and multimedia art. We watched it from the outside, and it looked amazing. Next time we will book tickets to see the whole show.

Our favourite beach on Phu Quoc Island was Khem Beach. It’s clean, with white sand, and has a few bars and restaurants offering vegan options. There are also a few beautiful resorts on this beach, so it is the best area to stay on the island.

We stayed on Phu Quoc Island for 3 days, and it was just the right amount in combination with other places that we visited in Vietnam. If you would like to relax even more, then 4-5 days might be better. We visited Phu Quoc Island in March, and we had the most perfect weather.

Let’s explore some of our favourite plant-based spots in Saigon that will leave you craving more.

WHERE TO STAY IN SAIGON?

We stayed at the Fusion Original Saigon Centre Hotel and loved everything about it. When we return to Saigon, we will definitely stay here again. The location is great, with almost everything within walking distance, and the rooms are stylishly decorated.

Most of the rooms offer a great view, but the best view is from the breakfast restaurant. For breakfast, you can enjoy vegan chia pudding and fruits, and they also offer coffee with plant-based milk. There is a big pool with a view, but our favourite part of this hotel was the staff.

VEGAN RESTAURANTS IN SAIGON

Vegan food in Saigon has become remarkably popular. There are many restaurants offering plant-based dishes in the city. In Saigon, you will find a wide range of vegan options, from traditional Vietnamese dishes to international cuisines.

Many restaurants and cafes have adapted classic Vietnamese recipes to be entirely plant-based, including pho, banh mi, and spring rolls.

Shamballa Vegetarian, Restaurant & Lounge – Sai Gon

We visited this restaurant chain in Hoi An and loved it so much that we decided to visit it in Saigon as well. The food was amazing, and it is one of Vietnam’s best vegetarian restaurants. While not all dishes are vegan, most of them are.

The menu is extensive, offering delicious Vietnamese dishes. We tried the Shamballa crispy mushrooms, which were amazing. We also ordered pho rolls and a pho. Pho is an herbal broth with traditional Vietnamese noodles, mushrooms, tofu, and some veggies.

Be An Vegetarian Café

This was our favourite vegetarian restaurant in Saigon, offering a mostly vegan menu. The ambiance is beautiful, but the food was even better. You can find many traditional dishes on their menu.

We tried noodles with mushrooms, different soups, and of course, spring rolls. Our favourite, however, was their mango passionfruit smoothie.

Vị Quê Kitchen vegan Saigon

This restaurant in Saigon prepares wholesome vegan meals, creatively combining flavours from the North, Central, and South of Vietnam. You can also find some fusion dishes with Western influences on their menu.

We tried their square spring rolls, which were very good! They offer hot pot, noodles, salads, noodle soups, and much more. Their menu is extensive, and the ambiance of the restaurant is pleasant.

Hum, Cafe & Restaurant – Saigon

Hum, Cafe & Restaurant in Saigon stands out with its unique architecture and cozy, elegant, and calming interior. According to their website, they are ranked 10th among the top 25 vegetarian restaurants worldwide.

While not all dishes are vegan, most of them are. Our favourite from their menu was the oyster mushrooms in trio-spice sauce steamed in a lotus leaf. Their drinks menu is also amazing, offering unique alcoholic and non-alcoholic options.

Bến Thành Street Food Market – Vegan Options in Saigon

Bến Thành Street Food Market offers a variety of Vietnamese and international food options. It can get quite crowded in the evenings and especially on weekends, making it challenging to find a seat, but the atmosphere is vibrant.

There are some plant-based options available; we ordered baozi and vegan dumplings.

Like Coffee- Banh mi

If you get hungry while visiting the famous Bui Vien Walking Street, stop by this café offering banh mi, coffee, juice, and smoothies.

We ordered their vegan banh mi, which was a great and affordable dinner option in the area. You can also enjoy a fresh fruit smoothie with your banh mi.

Heal and Celeb Vegan Restaurant Thuần Chay

Heal and Celeb Vegan Restaurant Thuần Chay is a vegan restaurant in Saigon. The money they make goes to Diviners Ashram, which offers free meditation programs and consciousness-elevating festivals.

They have delicious breakfast options like smoothie bowls. For lunch and dinner, you can choose from many traditional Vietnamese dishes made vegan. The food is delicious.

Veggie Saigon Restaurant (Vietnamese and Thai vegan)

The vegan Veggie Saigon Restaurant offers a mixed vegan menu featuring Vietnamese dishes like banh mi, pho, and spring rolls, along with Thai classics like pad Thai, fried rice, and curry.

Many plant-based restaurants in Saigon focus on organic ingredients and sustainable practices. This is perfect for all the locals and travellers who are conscious about what they consume.

Saigon’s vegan food scene is diverse, and more and more restaurants are opening up every year. They offer a wealth of options for both locals and tourists. If you are looking for traditional Vietnamese plant-based food, modern culinary dishes, or vibrant street food, Saigon has something to satisfy every vegan visiting the city.

WHAT TO DO IN SAIGON?

Saigon offers a lot of fun activities. One of our favourite experiences was visiting the Cu Chi Tunnels. To avoid the crowds, we booked a tour with Joy Journeys, which was less crowded and unforgettable!

There were only three of us, making it feel almost like a private tour. The guide was amazing, and it was one of the best things we did in Vietnam.

Another must-see in Saigon is the Ben Thanh Market, where you can find amazing souvenirs. The most important museum to visit is the War Remnants Museum. It is truly touching and shows the real suffering caused by the war.
