The hardest part for me, when planning a trip, is deciding how many days to spend in each location. I have been to Thailand many times and if you only have 14 nights this is the best itinerary that will help you see the outstanding parts of Thailand.

You get to see the beautiful North of Thailand and truly explore the area. On the same trip, you also get to relax on two of the most beautiful islands in Thailand. With our itinerary, you end your trip with a Bangkok city break where you can do some sightseeing and shopping.

DAY 1-5 ITINERARY: CHIANG MAI, THAILAND – THE CULTURAL GEM

Your Thailand itinerary begins in Chiang Mai. It is a charming city nestled in the mountainous region of northern Thailand. Chiang Mai is known for its rich cultural heritage and warm hospitality. In this city you will find so many amazing things to do.

Usually, your trip starts at Bangkok (Suvarnabhumi) Airport. To not lose any extra time I recommend that you take the domestic flight to Chiang Mai right away. Many different airlines are flying back and forth every day so you can find the one which is the best connection for your international flight arrival.

WHAT TO DO IN CHIANG MAI, THAILAND?

There is so much to do and see in Chiang Mai so you could easily spend more than 5 nights in this area.
If you are lucky and you are staying in the city on a Sunday, you have to visit the Sunday market. Thailand is known for its night markets but this one is the best one I have ever visited.

You can also take a half-day or full-day tour at the Elephant Rescue Park. There are many different sanctuaries for Thai elephants but not all of them are good with the elephants.

Visiting temples is a must in Chiang Mai. Our leading temple recommendations to visit are Wat Chedi Luang, Wat Pha Lat, and Wat Umong Suan Putthatham.

Sticky waterfalls are a little bit out of the city centre of Chiang Mai and the waterfalls are unique and something you can’t find elsewhere.

Thailand is famous for its delicious Thai food. In Chiang Mai, you can take a cooking class and learn so much about ingredients and food preparation. There is also a special dish in this part of Thailand called Khao Soi.

WHERE TO STAY IN CHIANG MAI?

Our favourite hotel in the city is Aksara Heritage. The rooms are luxurious and beautifully decorated. The staff is very friendly and there is also a refreshing pool.

The next destination on your itinerary is Koh Phangan. It is a beautiful island in southeast Thailand.
The island is known for its monthly Full Moon parties, but what most people don’t know is that in the north-western parts of the island, specifically the area around Srithanu beach, you can find a beautiful community of conscious yogis, expats, travellers, and locals that have created a paradise on the island.
