Saigon also known as Ho Chi Minh is located in the southern part of Vietnam. There are many interesting and fun things to do in the city, and here are our top 10 things to do in Saigon.

As you walk through Saigon, you will experience a lively atmosphere. The city is filled with motorbikes, the aroma of street food, and vibrant markets. Because of the traffic, crossing the streets can be a challenge, but it is all part of the fun.

The city is famous for its street food. You can find delicious options like pho, banh mi, and fresh spring rolls at nearly every corner. But there is much more to Saigon than just its food. We stayed in the city for two nights, but you could easily spend at least 3. Here are our top 10 things to do in Saigon.

TOP 10 THINGS TO DO IN SAIGON

1. CU CHI TUNNELS

When visiting Saigon, the best thing to do is to go on one of our favourite activities there: the Cu Chi Tunnels. This underground network was used during the Vietnam War by Viet Cong soldiers. You can walk through the tunnels and see displays of traps and weapons used during the war.

If you are a tall person it can be quite a challenge to walk through the narrow tunnels. But you do not have to do it, it is optional.

To avoid the crowds, we booked a tour with Joy Journeys. With only three of us, it felt almost like a private tour. The guide was amazing, and it was one of the best things we did in Vietnam.

2. BEN THANH MARKET

Another must-see in Saigon is Ben Thanh Market, the best place to find amazing souvenirs and affordable clothing. As you step inside, you are immediately greeted by a lively atmosphere and colourful stalls packed with a variety of goods. We hope that you have space available in your luggage, because it is a shopping paradise.

You will find from fresh produce and exotic spices to handmade crafts and trendy clothing. There is something for everyone at Ben Thanh Market.

3. WAR REMNANTS MUSEUM

The most important museum to visit in Saigon is the War Remnants Museum. It is truly touching and shows the real suffering caused by the war. The museum provides a deep insight into the Vietnam War and its lasting impact. As you walk through, you will encounter a variety of exhibits that tell the story of the war from different perspectives.

There are photographs, documents, and other war artifacts. Visiting the museum helps you understand the horrible consequences of war and those affected by it. It really makes you appreciate peace.

4. SAIGON CENTRAL POST OFFICE

The Saigon Central Post Office is a beautiful and historic landmark that you must visit. Built in the late 19th century, this post office is not just a place to send mail but a stunning example of French colonial architecture.

For a fun activity, send a postcard from here. There are souvenir shops where you can buy postcards, stamps, and other items. The friendly staff are always ready to help, adding to the welcoming vibe. It’s a unique way to remember your trip!

5. BEN NGHE STREET FOOD

Ben Nghe Street Food is a lively market perfect for food lovers. You can try classic Vietnamese dishes like pho, banh mi, and fresh spring rolls, as well as many international options. One of the highlights of the market is its lively atmosphere.

In the evenings, there are live music performances. Ben Nghe Street Food Market becomes a fun place to enjoy dinner with friends or family. If you want to learn about all the vegan options in Saigon, read our best restaurant guide.

6. BITEXCO FINANCIAL TOWER

The Bitexco Financial Tower is one of Ho Chi Minh City’s most iconic landmarks standing tall and impressive in the city’s skyline. This 68-story skyscraper, located in the heart of District 1, symbolizes the rapid growth and modernity of Vietnam.

One of the main attractions of the tower is the Saigon Skydeck on the 49th floor. From tere, you can enjoy breathtaking 360-degree views of the city.

7. TAO DAN PARK

Tao Dan Park is an oasis in the midst of bustling Saigon. This park is a favourite spot for locals and tourists looking for a bit of nature. The city can be quite hot, so the natural shade of the trees offers a perfect break from the heat.

Grab a cold Vietnamese coconut coffee to go, enjoy it in this beautiful park, and observe the locals.

8. BUI VIEN WALKING STREET

Known as the city’s “backpacker street,” Bui Vien Walking Street comes alive every evening with a burst of activity. It attracts locals and tourists alike. Bui Vien is famous for its nightlife. The street is lined with restaurants and bars.

As the sun sets, the music gets louder, and the area transforms into a nightlife hub. Bars and clubs pump out loud beats. You can enjoy live music, DJ sets, and even karaoke. The music is so loud that if you have sensitive ears bring earplugs. It may not be to everyone’s taste, but it is definitely a place to visit in Saigon.

9. THE CAFE APARTMENTS

This nine-story building was once a residential apartment complex. It has been transformed into a trendy place filled with cafes, boutiques, and creative spaces. When you visit, you will see a colourful mix of signs and decorations on the balconies, each representing a different cafe or shop inside.

Inside, every floor offers a different experience. From chic coffee shops to cozy tea houses, you can find a spot that suits your taste.

In addition to cafes, there are boutique shops selling clothes, accessories, and handcrafted goods.

10. NOTRE DAME CATHEDRAL OF SAIGON

The Notre Dame Cathedral of Saigon stands as a beautiful reminder of the city’s colonial past. It is located right next to the Central Post Office. You can visit both attractions on the same day. It is a place where you can appreciate stunning architecture, and learn about the city’s history.

You can also explore the beautiful interior of the cathedral.

WHERE TO STAY IN SAIGON?

We stayed at the Fusion Original Saigon Centre Hotel and loved everything about it. Most of the rooms offer a beautiful view of the city. You will find the best view from their breakfast restaurant. The breakfast is amazing with self-service options as well as a la carte.

The rooms are stylish and comfortable. There are also free snacks and drinks available on every floor. The location is great, with almost everything within walking distance. There is a big pool with a view, but our favourite part of this hotel was the staff. When we return to Saigon, we will stay here again.

->You can check the availability here.

In Saigon, tradition meets modernity. It is a unique and lively city to experience. You will get an unforgettable adventure no matter what you decide to do. You can explore historic sites, enjoy food, or experience the nightlife.

If you are a vegan, finding good dining options can be a bit of a challenge in Phu Quoc Island. We wanted to take a few days off during our Vietnam trip and decided to relax and unwind on Phu Quoc Island.

But don’t worry—we have done the hard work for you! We discovered some great vegan-friendly restaurants where you will be able to find some delicious food. Join us as we explore the best vegan dining spots on Phu Quoc. We will try to make your eating journey on the island as easy as possible.

WHERE TO STAY ON PHU QUOC?

We chose to stay at the beautiful New World Phu Quoc Resort. While it’s not the cheapest option on Phu Quoc, the prices reflect the luxury of a beautiful private two-bedroom villa. The resort has the most amazing beach on the island, and its overall beauty is unparalleled.

Breakfast in the New World Phu Quoc Resort is quite impressive compared to other 5-star hotels in Vietnam. There is an entirely vegetarian/vegan section offering vegetable noodles, fried vegetables, tofu, and fresh fruit.

The hotel also provides a few vegan options, such as vegan burgers, spring rolls, soup, fries, and ice cream. Though the prices are quite high, we only tried a few snacks and chose to eat our lunch and dinner outside the resort.

->Ready to experience this oasis? Book your stay now!

BEST VEGAN FOOD ON PHU QUOC

We traveled through several destinations in Vietnam, but Phu Quoc was the most challenging regarding vegan food options. Compared to other Vietnamese tourist destinations, the island is not very vegan-friendly.

However, during our few days there, we managed to find some plant-based options.

Nhà Hàng Chay NẤM

This is one of the best vegan restaurants to visit on Phu Quoc. They offer a wide menu with various appetizers like spring rolls, dumplings, mushrooms with sauce, and more. You can also enjoy different types of traditional Vietnamese soups and noodles.

The ambiance of the restaurant is really nice, and the food is delicious.

Maharaja Lounge – Authentic Indian 100% Veg Restaurant

This vegetarian Indian restaurant is known for popular dishes like vegan butter chicken, samosas, and paneer tikka masala. The food is authentic and high quality, with an extensive menu and great vegan options.

The staff is very friendly, making it a great choice if you start craving some good vegan Indian food on your Phu Quoc vacation.

Nora’s Café on Phu Quoc

There aren’t many vegan breakfast options on the island, so if you don’t have breakfast at your accommodation, this café is a great choice. It’s perfect if you love colourful smoothie bowls like me. Before ordering your smoothie bowl, just make sure they make it vegan.

You can also enjoy avocado toast, which isn’t the easiest to find on Phu Quoc Island.

Quán Ăn Chay Thiện Nam

This was our favourite vegetarian restaurant in this part of the Island. Most of the dishes are vegan. The owners are very friendly, and the food is amazing and affordable. If you want to experience truly local food, you have to visit this restaurant.

Istanbul Beach Club

This cute beach bar and restaurant is located on our favourite Khem Beach on Phu Quoc Island. You can find a few vegan snacks there, like the hummus and falafel plate. Just check before ordering that everything on the plate is vegan.

They also have mango and tropical smoothie bowls, both of which are vegan. For a delicious snack on the beach, you can also order a fruit platter.

Quán chay Thiên Phúc

This restaurant offers an amazing variety of vegan options. You can create your own vegan plate from the buffet. The food is very good and affordable, and the mock meats are all amazing.

Street food in Sunset Town on Phu Quoc

There is a night market every day in Sunset Town. While there aren’t a lot of options, you can find a few vegan snacks at the food stalls. It’s a fun way to experience local street food.

As you can see, Phu Quoc offers some plant-based dining options that can make your stay both enjoyable and fulfilling. There are cozy cafes on the beach and local restaurants where you will find some great options.

When you are visiting the island, try not to only eat in a resort. When you explore these vegan-friendly spots, you will not only get to enjoy delicious, local, plant-based meals, but you will also support local businesses that are trying to create vegan-friendly food.

So, while Phu Quoc may initially seem like a challenging destination for vegans, it is possible that with a little exploration, you can find some delicious plant-based options on this beautiful island. Also, more and more restaurants are adding plant-based options to their menus.

WHAT TO DO ON PHU QUOC

When visiting Phu Quoc, one of the best activities is going on a fun tropical adventure by speedboat to explore the island. You can snorkel and visit some of the most gorgeous islands in the area.

Do not forget to visit Sunset Town, a Mediterranean-style town on the southwest coast of the island. It’s one of the most unique places we visited in Vietnam, making you feel like you’re on the other side of the world.

While there, enjoy a unique outdoor performance called Kiss The Sea Show that combines water music and multimedia art. We watched it from the outside, and it looked amazing. Next time we will book tickets to see the whole show.

Our favourite beach on Phu Quoc Island was Khem Beach. It’s clean, with white sand, and has a few bars and restaurants offering vegan options. There are also a few beautiful resorts on this beach, so it is the best area to stay on the island.

We stayed on Phu Quoc Island for 3 days, and it was just the right amount in combination with other places that we visited in Vietnam. If you would like to relax even more, then 4-5 days might be better. We visited Phu Quoc Island in March, and we had the most perfect weather.

Did you know that Saigon is a vegan haven? The city has seen a rise in vegan restaurants, offering a delicious variety of plant-based dishes to locals and tourists. We were surprised by how easy it is to be vegan in Saigon.

It is a busy city in Vietnam known for its lively street food culture and rich culinary history.

If you are a long-time vegan or just curious about trying something new, you will be able to find something amazing to eat in Saigon. There are traditional Vietnamese restaurants with vegan options or creative fusion restaurants. You will not get bored with the food options in this city.

Let’s explore some of our favourite plant-based spots in Saigon that will leave you craving more.

WHERE TO STAY IN SAIGON?

We stayed at the Fusion Original Saigon Centre Hotel and loved everything about it. When we return to Saigon, we will definitely stay here again. The location is great, with almost everything within walking distance, and the rooms are stylishly decorated.

Most of the rooms offer a great view, but the best view is from the breakfast restaurant. For breakfast, you can enjoy vegan chia pudding and fruits, and they also offer coffee with plant-based milk. There is a big pool with a view, but our favourite part of this hotel was the staff.

->You can check the availability here.

VEGAN RESTAURANTS IN SAIGON

Vegan food in Saigon has become remarkably popular. There are many restaurants offering plant-based dishes in the city. In Saigon, you will find a wide range of vegan options, from traditional Vietnamese dishes to international cuisines.

Many restaurants and cafes have adapted classic Vietnamese recipes to be entirely plant-based, including pho, banh mi, and spring rolls.

Shamballa Vegetarian, Restaurant & Lounge – Sai Gon

We visited this restaurant chain in Hoi An and loved it so much that we decided to visit it in Saigon as well. The food was amazing, and it is one of Vietnam’s best vegetarian restaurants. While not all dishes are vegan, most of them are.

The menu is extensive, offering delicious Vietnamese dishes. We tried the Shamballa crispy mushrooms, which were amazing. We also ordered pho rolls and a pho. Pho is an herbal broth with traditional Vietnamese noodles, mushrooms, tofu, and some veggies.

Be An Vegetarian Café

This was our favourite vegetarian restaurant in Saigon, offering a mostly vegan menu. The ambiance is beautiful, but the food was even better. You can find many traditional dishes on their menu.

We tried noodles with mushrooms, different soups, and of course, spring rolls. Our favourite, however, was their mango passionfruit smoothie.

Vị Quê Kitchen vegan Saigon

This restaurant in Saigon prepares wholesome vegan meals, creatively combining flavours from the North, Central, and South of Vietnam. You can also find some fusion dishes with Western influences on their menu.

We tried their square spring rolls, which were very good! They offer hot pot, noodles, salads, noodle soups, and much more. Their menu is extensive, and the ambiance of the restaurant is pleasant.

Hum, Cafe & Restaurant – Saigon

Hum, Cafe & Restaurant in Saigon stands out with its unique architecture and cozy, elegant, and calming interior. According to their website, they are ranked 10th among the top 25 vegetarian restaurants worldwide.

While not all dishes are vegan, most of them are. Our favourite from their menu was the oyster mushrooms in trio-spice sauce steamed in a lotus leaf. Their drinks menu is also amazing, offering unique alcoholic and non-alcoholic options.

Bến Thành Street Food Market – Vegan Options in Saigon

Bến Thành Street Food Market offers a variety of Vietnamese and international food options. It can get quite crowded in the evenings and especially on weekends, making it challenging to find a seat, but the atmosphere is vibrant.

There are some plant-based options available; we ordered baozi and vegan dumplings.

Like Coffee- Banh mi

If you get hungry while visiting the famous Bui Vien Walking Street, stop by this café offering banh mi, coffee, juice, and smoothies.

We ordered their vegan banh mi, which was a great and affordable dinner option in the area. You can also enjoy a fresh fruit smoothie with your banh mi.

Heal and Celeb Vegan Restaurant Thuần Chay

Heal and Celeb Vegan Restaurant Thuần Chay is a vegan restaurant in Saigon. The money they make goes to Diviners Ashram, which offers free meditation programs and consciousness-elevating festivals.

They have delicious breakfast options like smoothie bowls. For lunch and dinner, you can choose from many traditional Vietnamese dishes made vegan. The food is delicious.

Veggie Saigon Restaurant (Vietnamese and Thai vegan)

The vegan Veggie Saigon Restaurant offers a mixed vegan menu featuring Vietnamese dishes like banh mi, pho, and spring rolls, along with Thai classics like pad Thai, fried rice, and curry.

Many plant-based restaurants in Saigon focus on organic ingredients and sustainable practices. This is perfect for all the locals and travellers who are conscious about what they consume.

Saigon’s vegan food scene is diverse, and more and more restaurants are opening up every year. They offer a wealth of options for both locals and tourists. If you are looking for traditional Vietnamese plant-based food, modern culinary dishes, or vibrant street food, Saigon has something to satisfy every vegan visiting the city.

WHAT TO DO IN SAIGON?

Saigon offers a lot of fun activities. One of our favourite experiences was visiting the Cu Chi Tunnels. To avoid the crowds, we booked a tour with Joy Journeys, which was less crowded and unforgettable!

There were only three of us, making it feel almost like a private tour. The guide was amazing, and it was one of the best things we did in Vietnam.

Another must-see in Saigon is the Ben Thanh Market, where you can find amazing souvenirs. The most important museum to visit is the War Remnants Museum. It is truly touching and shows the real suffering caused by the war.

For a fun activity, send a postcard from the Saigon Central Post Office. It’s a unique way to remember your trip!

Hoi An is surrounded by beautiful rice fields and offers many delicious vegan restaurants. This charming and historic town is our favourite city in Vietnam.

Hoi An is truly a unique Vietnamese city, close to the ocean and beautiful nature. Every night, the town transforms into a magical place. Colorful lanterns light up the streets and the river. This tradition is especially beautiful during the monthly Lantern Festival, but you can enjoy the sight any evening.

WHERE TO STAY IN HOI AN?

We found the perfect place to stay in Hoi An, the hotel is Little Oasis – An Eco-Friendly Hotel & Spa. It is ideally located just outside the old town with beautiful river views. It was a true oasis and one of our favourite accommodations in Vietnam.

The hotel offers beautifully designed rooms and suites. Some of the rooms have the most amazing views of the river and water buffalo. Two rooftop pools offer views of nature. In this hotel, you will find a perfect blend of luxury, comfort, and authentic local experiences.

When we come back to Hoi An, we will definitely book the Little Oasis Hotel again.

The staff goes above and beyond to ensure every guest has a comfortable and memorable stay at the Little Oasis Hotel.

VEGAN FOOD IN HOI AN

Our top tip? Learn the Vietnamese word “chay.” This term means “vegetarian” or “vegan” in English and stands for plant-based meals without animal products. Knowing this word will make exploring vegan restaurants in Hoi An a breeze. You can also go on a vegan food tour with Momo travel company!

Here are our favourite restaurants:

SHAMBALLA VEGETARIAN BISTRO

Shamballa Vegetarian Bistro is a hidden gem in the beautiful city of Hoi An. This vegetarian restaurant offers mostly vegan dishes. With locations all over Vietnam, their food is one of our favourites.

Their menu takes you through different regional cuisines, allowing you to explore the traditional flavours of Vietnam. We tried a few different dishes, and all of them were amazing.

Our favourite from the menu was “Tales of the Old Town,” which included steamed coconut rice cakes and a Hoi An specialty, Cao Lau. This is a restaurant you cannot skip when visiting this town!

ELLIE’S CAFE HOI AN

Ellie’s Cafe Hoi An is a family-run café serving healthy, clean-eating dishes with many vegan options. We ordered scrambled tofu and a smoothie bowl. The scrambled tofu was good, but the smoothie bowl was our favourite—it was the best we had in Hoi An.

Other options on their menu include peanut butter toast, Buddha bowl, falafel bowl, and oatmeal pancakes. You can also order my favourite iced-blended coconut coffee in a vegan version.

PEANUTS – VEGAN VIETNAMESE FOOD IN HOI AN

At Peanuts, you can savour traditional Vietnamese vegan and vegetarian cuisine. They use locally grown ingredients whenever possible, making it one of our favourite restaurants in Hoi An.

The portions are huge, and the food is amazing. You can choose your base and then pick from a variety of delicious sides. We also tried their sourdough vegan chicken banh mi.

Their selection of desserts is delightful, but my favourite item was their Vietnamese coconut coffee. It was the best one I had in the whole of Vietnam.

V VEGAN RESTAURANT IN HOI AN

V Vegan Restaurant is located right in the heart of Hoi An’s old town. If you can get a table outside, the ambiance is amazing, as you sit on the walking street and watch people stroll by.

Their menu offers a wide selection of delicious vegan dishes. We tried several and loved most of them. Our favourite was the tofu and mushroom bun noodle curry.

ROSIE’S CAFE

Rosie’s Cafe is a famous breakfast spot in Hoi An. The cafe is named after the main character Rosie Dunne, from the movie “Love, Rosie.”

Although the menu is not entirely vegan, it is carefully curated with both taste and nutritional value in mind, using fresh and local ingredients. All their smoothie bowls are vegan. For breakfast or brunch, you can also enjoy tofu scramble, oatmeal, vegan pancakes, and a veggie wrap.

MINH HIEN VEGETARIAN RESTAURANT

Minh Hien is a vegetarian restaurant offering mostly vegan options. They serve a local specialty called white rose, which is not found elsewhere. We tried it, and it was delicious.

We also ordered fresh spring rolls and pho. The restaurant is affordable with great food, and you can even take a cooking class there.

LE HOI VEGETARIAN BREAD

Le Hoi offers one of the most affordable vegan dishes in Hoi An. Their vegan banh mi, a Vietnamese sandwich, combines a crispy, airy baguette filled with various ingredients, offering a blend of French and Vietnamese flavours. It is a delicious mix of savoury, sweet, and spicy elements.

ROM VEGETARIAN BISTRO

ROM Vegetarian Bistro offers mostly vegan dishes with generous portions and very tasty food. You can try many traditional Vietnamese dishes as well as other Asian cuisines. The menu offers a lot of variety, and the staff are very friendly.

THON DA AM – VEGETARIAN RESTAURANT AND COFFEE SHOP

Thon Da Am is a charming coffee shop and vegetarian restaurant in Hoi An’s old town. I recommend going upstairs to eat on their cute wooden balcony overlooking the pedestrian street.

Though their menu does not offer a lot of options, we tried the pho, and it was very good.

MANGO CAKE IN HOI AN

While strolling through Hoi An’s old town, you’ll come across street vendors selling mango cake, also called Banh Xoai. We learned that it is vegan. Despite its name, it has nothing to do with mango.

It is more like mochi, filled with sweetened and crushed peanuts. By buying it, you also support local vendors. It is a great and very affordable snack.

VEGAN COOKING CLASS IN HOI AN

We attended the famous Chickpea Eatery vegan cooking class in Hoi An. The class began with a tour of the local market, which was our favourite part. You learn so much about the history of Hoi An and the local culture, and they introduce you to the vegan food available in the market and in Vietnamese cuisine.

During the class, we cooked fresh spring rolls, a Vietnamese pancake, and a salad. The cooking class was fun, and we left with a bag full of food. The only thing we would change is having a bit more cooking and less chopping of raw veggies. Otherwise, it is a cooking class you cannot miss when visiting Hoi An!

In Hoi An, you will find a blend of traditional flavours and modern culinary creativity in vegan food. If you decide to eat at a dedicated vegan restaurant or explore the food markets, you will love the food here. Taking a cooking class in Hoi An is also a fun thing to do.

Hanoi is a vegan paradise, the city offers a wide variety of plant-based restaurants. You will be able to try charming, intimate cafes or sophisticated dining spots, there is something for everyone in Hanoi!

Our top tip? Get to know the Vietnamese word “chay.” This term, meaning “vegetarian” or “vegan” in English, stands for plant-based meals without animal products. Spotting this word will make exploring vegan dining options in Hanoi a breeze.

WHERE TO STAY IN HANOI?

Hanoi offers many luxurious and affordable hotels. Our top recommendation? Make the Old Quarter your home base. Nestled in the historical heart of Hanoi, you will find that everything worth seeing is just a short walk away, allowing you to explore the city’s authentic charm.

Our favourite hotel that we stayed in the city is the Peridot Grand Luxury. This hotel is stunning, with an amazing rooftop pool and bar that promise both relaxation and city views. It is also very clean and comfortable.

Our next best option, where we spend two nights, is the Meritel Hanoi. This hotel also features a rooftop bar and pool, offering a perfect blend of luxury and leisure. It is also a little bit more affordable.

For those on a tighter budget, don’t worry—we’ve got you covered. The Golden Rooster Hotel is a more wallet-friendly option without skimping on comfort and convenience. This hotel is also very beautiful, but it does not offer a pool.

VEGAN FOOD IN HANOI

Discovering plant-based restaurants in Hanoi is easy. There are a lot of restaurants that are vegan-friendly. If you want a quick, wallet-friendly meal or are planning a special evening out, Hanoi has you covered.

Here are some of our top vegan restaurants in Hanoi:

BANH MI CHAY – HANOI VEGAN

It is a popular spot in Hanoi to have vegan banh mi. Banh mi is a Vietnamese sandwich that combines a crispy and airy baguette filled with a variety of ingredients, offering a blend of flavours from French and Vietnamese cuisines. It is a delicious mix of savoury, sweet, and spicy elements.

With 20 different filling combinations to choose from, deciding can be tough but exciting. Beyond the banh mi, they also serve a variety of other snacks. It is a great spot if you want to experience some traditional Vietnamese food.

HANOI VEGAN BANH MI

Tucked away in a narrow alley, this hidden gem is a must-visit vegan restaurant in the city. This was probably one of the best meals we had in Vietnam.

We had banh mi and pho, which is a classic Vietnamese dish consisting of broth, rice noodles, and herbs. It is known for its aromatic spices like star anise, cinnamon, and cloves. In plant-based restaurants, the meat is usually replaced with tofu. This restaurant is also very affordable.

KATZE – HANOI VEGAN & VEGETARIAN

When wandering through Hanoi’s Old Quarter, making a stop at Katze Vegan & Vegetarian is a must. It is a bit hidden, up on the second floor of a building, but luckily, some friendly locals helped us find the entrance. It is one of the best-rated vegetarian restaurants in Hanoi.

What’s really special here is that you get more food than what you order. The owners give you extra goodies like tofu, rice, veggies, and soup for free. So, you end up having a big, tasty meal. It is definitely a place you should check out in Hanoi, it is also very popular.

GREEN INN – HANOI VEGAN RESTAURANT

Nestled in the lively heart of the city, Green Inn serves up traditional Vietnamese cuisine with a vegan twist. All the dishes are made with quality ingredients with clear origins.

Try their hearty pho or a crunchy banh mi. In Green Inn, you will find a rich menu that features a variety of noodles, curries, and even a hot pot.

ƯƯ ĐÀM CHAY IN HANOI

If you’re in the mood for something fancier, Ưu Đàm Chay is the spot. This restaurant stands out with its stylish decor and a wide, varied menu. It is pricier than other vegan and vegetarian places in Hanoi, but for a special date night, it is perfect.

The staff is really attentive, asking about food preferences and allergies to help guide you through the menu. Because of that, you get exactly what you are looking for, especially if you want to make sure that the food you order is really vegan. The food is generally good, though not every dish hits the mark considering the price.

2 CREAM – HOMEMADE ICE CREAM

Dreaming of ice cream in Hanoi? We stumbled upon this shop right by the lake, serving up a selection of vegan flavours—a rare find in Vietnam, making us super excited about our choices.

They offer salted caramel, vanilla Oreo, mango, peanut butter, pistachio, almond milk chocolate, and raspberry sorbet. So, if you are looking for a sweet treat that is also vegan, this is the place to go!

CHAYFOOD AND DESSERT

ChayFood and Dessert is a great place for vegan food, healthy sweets, and local dishes in Hanoi. You can start with tasty appetizers like soup, salad, spring rolls, and porridge. For the main meal, there is a lot to choose from, including pho, banh mi, pesto pasta, Thai curry, and hotpots.

Our favourites are the fresh spring rolls with peanut butter sauce and the brown rice noodles with mushrooms. These dishes are not only delicious but also good for you.

IVEGAN SUPERSHOP IN HANOI

It is a cool, modern vegan cafe that is all about living healthy and balanced. It is not just a place to eat; they’ve got a restaurant, a co-working space, and a coffee shop all in one. And it is not only in Hanoi; you can find them in Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City too.

Their menu is packed with awesome breakfasts like overnight oats and smoothie bowls. But that’s not all—they offer lots of healthy salads and burgers, plus tasty sourdough toast with different toppings. And their drinks menu is just as big as their food menu, so there is something for everyone.

CÁI MÂM BISTRO SIGNATURE VEGAN

This restaurant brings a top-notch dining experience, focusing on nutrient-rich meals that are as good for you as they are for the planet. This restaurant takes vegan eating to the highest level, with even their wines being vegan-friendly.

You’ll find a diverse menu here, from fresh spring rolls and green curry to innovative dishes like tofu ragu with quinoa. There’s also a buffet option, giving you the chance to sample a wide variety of dishes for a fixed price.

WHAT TO DO IN HANOI?

Hanoi, a city where chaos meets charm, offers countless unforgettable experiences. It stands out as a truly unique destination. One of the highlights of our trip was exploring the famous train street.

For an authentic experience, head to Railway Café Tuan. You can find their WhatsApp number on Google to message the owner about the train schedule.

Another adventure not to be missed is a one-night cruise to Halong Bay. We chose the spectacular Capella cruise, and it did not disappoint.

They served us delicious vegan food on board, making it a highly recommended choice for anyone looking to explore the natural beauty of Vietnam while enjoying great food.

Hue, once the capital of Vietnam, known for its beautiful old buildings and history, is also a place where you can find lots of tasty vegan meals.

But there’s more to Hue than just its past. Hue is a lively city by the calm Perfume River. It offers beautiful views, busy markets, and delicious food.

There are also a lot of amazing things to see, like the UNESCO World Heritage site, the Imperial City of Hue, or the Incense Village, but we must admit that the Incense Village is good only for a few nice photos and nothing more.

More and more restaurants in Hue are serving vegan dishes that everyone can enjoy, not just vegans. They use fresh ingredients to create traditional Vietnamese dishes without any animal products.

In this article, we will talk about our six favourite vegan options in Hue.

WHERE TO STAY IN HUE?

We stayed at the Meliá Vinpearl Hue, one of the highest-rated hotels in the city. It stands as the tallest building in Hue, offering amazing views of the city and the surrounding nature.

The hotel is very clean and in a perfect location. You can find vegan food for breakfast, and we believe the price-performance ratio for this hotel is excellent. The rooms are very spacious and clean. Check the prices here.

VEGAN RESTAURANTS IN HUE

We spent a few nights in Hue, and there were quite a lot of vegan restaurants available. We did not expect that we could try a new restaurant for every meal that we had. Let’s explore some of the best spots in Hue where you can enjoy delicious vegan food.

CHAY CORNER VIETNAMESE DUMPLINGS – HUE VEGAN RESTAURANT

This restaurant was our favourite in Hue. It is located away from the city centre, so having your own motorbike to get there is ideal.

Chay Corner offers an extensive menu with so many amazing options that we ended up trying four different vegan dishes – each one was incredible. The food, home-cooked by a lovely older woman, offers a truly authentic experience you can’t miss when visiting Hue.

AN NHIEN GARDEN VEGETARIAN – BEST IN HUE VEGAN

The vegetarian restaurant itself is set in a fine, large house surrounded by gardens, with seating available beside a pool, making it an ideal place if you want to enjoy your lunch in nature.

They pride themselves on making tofu and all sauces and pastes in-house using fresh, organic ingredients. The food is made to order, ensuring each dish is as fresh as possible. The prices are on the higher side, but the taste is amazing. It was one of the best restaurants with vegan options in Hue.

TỊNH TÂM – HUE VEGAN

It is a vegan restaurant in Hue. They adapted the traditional Vietnamese cuisine to meet vegan standards. The dishes are filled with aromatic herbs, fresh vegetables, and tofu-based dishes.

We ordered pho, which didn’t quite become our favourite. However, based on reviews, perhaps we should have tried something else. Nonetheless, it stands as a fantastic vegan option in the city.

CHALENG THAI STEET FOOD – HUE VEGAN OPTION

They serve lots of traditional Thai dishes like fried rice, pad Thai, and Tom Yum soup. We chose the pineapple fried rice and asked for a vegan version.

The staff understood what vegan meant, so they made our dish without fish sauce and eggs. You must visit this place if you love Thai food.

SÂN MÂY HUẾ

It’s a vegetarian restaurant set in a traditional wooden house, decked out with dark hardwood furniture. They offer plenty of vegan options on their menu. There’s a lot to explore, from stir-fried tofu or seitan to a hot pot.

If you are not very hungry, you can also pick something lighter, like a salad or soup. Make sure to visit the restaurant at least 2 hours before closing time, as they might not welcome guests an hour before they close.

QUÁN CHAY THANH LIỄU

This is an affordable vegetarian restaurant that also offers vegan options. You can enjoy fresh spring rolls, noodle soup with a flavourful broth, hot pot, and many other delicious dishes.

Make sure to ask the staff if the food you’re ordering is vegan and not just vegetarian.

We stayed 2 nights in Hue, but we think that 3 nights would be ideal. With 3 nights, you do not have to rush to see all the important sights in this area. And with a few extra hours, you can relax more and enjoy the good vibes of this city.

Hue is a great place for anyone looking to enjoy vegan food. With lots of restaurants to choose from, you can taste many delicious dishes that are good for you and the planet.

WHAT TO DO IN HUE?

Hue, a city in Vietnam, offers many amazing sights to explore. Start your adventure at the Historic Citadel, also known as the Imperial City of Hue. From 1802 to 1945, under the Nguyen Dynasty’s rule, this city served as Vietnam’s capital.

The complex is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In the past, it served as the political, cultural, and religious centre of Vietnam during its time as the capital. The best way to learn about the Historic Citadel is to take a walking tour.

Don’t miss the opportunity to visit the Mausoleums of Emperors Minh Mang, Tu Duc, and Khai Dinh, each offering a unique glimpse into the country’s past.

The easiest way to visit all the sights in Hue is with a motorbike. If renting a motorbike is not your thing, you can easily visit all the royal tombs with an organised private tour with English English-speaking driver on Viator.

Additionally, the abandoned waterpark at Thuy Tien Lake is worth a visit.

However, one place you might consider skipping in Hue is the Thuy Xuan Incense-making Village. It’s a street lined with incense shops, but its main appeal seems to be inviting tourists to pay for photoshoots there.

If you are a long-time vegan traveller or just want to try something new, Hue’s restaurants will not disappoint. Come and explore the flavours of this historic city!
