Here is our 13-day Philippines itinerary. It is a perfect itinerary if you have a limited amount of time to explore this beautiful country. Because of our work, we cannot travel for a long period of time, so we always try to squeeze in as many things as possible, so we are able to see a lot during our trip.

In this itinerary, you will get to experience unforgettable memories and will still be able to relax by the beautiful beaches in the Philippines.

The Philippines is quite challenging to plan for travellers because creating an itinerary can get quite overwhelming. There are about 7,641 islands, so choosing the right ones can give anyone a headache.

For this Philippines itinerary, we decided to include some of the most famous spots and skip the destinations that are harder to reach for next time. Because 13 days is really not a lot of time for the Philippines, I included islands that are easily accessible for you to travel there efficiently.

The goal is not to spend too much time on the road, or in the case of the Philippines, in the air.

Most of the popular and touristy islands in the Philippines are accessible by plane. It is not the cheapest option, but it is definitely the most efficient if you are short on time.

DAY 1-3 OF THE PHILIPPINES ITINERARY: BOHOL AND PANGLAO ISLAND

HOW TO GET TO BOHOL

We start our Philippines itinerary in Bohol, more specifically on Panglao Island. Panglao Island is easily accessible by boat or by plane. Nearby is Tagbilaran City Port, which has great connections with Cebu if you are flying there. Book your tickets with OceanJet, as they are efficient and safe for travelling around the Philippines.

There is also Panglao International Airport, which has good connections with Manila. We chose to fly there directly from Manila.

WHAT TO DO IN BOHOL

The main reason many people visit this island in the Philippines is the chance to experience more than just beaches.

The most famous sight in Bohol is the Chocolate Hills. These are natural hills that, in some seasons of the year, turn brown and can look like they are made of chocolate. We visited in May, and some of them had a slightly brown colour.

The best thing we did in Bohol was book a Bohol Nature Tour with Ecotravelers. This isn’t a sponsored review; we genuinely loved our tour with them. The tour isn’t the cheapest, but it is worth it.

It is private, so you get your own driver and a guide. As we are staying in Bohol for three days in our itinerary, it’s also the easiest and most time-efficient way to see most of the popular sights the island has to offer.

On the Bohol Nature Tour, we visited the stunning Pangas Waterfalls, which haven’t yet been discovered by many tourists, so they are a hidden gem in Bohol. With Ecotravelers, you also get to enjoy lunch on the Loboc River, and they take you to see a local market.

And the best part? They bring you to places in Bohol that are far from the usual tourist crowds.

->You can book the Bohol Nature Tour with Ecotravelers here.

WHERE TO STAY IN BOHOL

Our recommendation is the Oceanica Resort. The location is slightly outside the main tourist area, but the beautiful beach makes it well worth it.

It is not the cheapest option, but after seeing other beaches in the area, we think it’s worth the price. The beach that this resort is located on is exactly the kind you imagine when booking your trip to the Philippines.

We recommend booking a deluxe beachfront room, as the rooms are situated in a palm tree forest right on the beach.

->You can book the Oceanica Resort here.

DAY 4-9 OF THE PHILIPPINES ITINERARY: EXPLORING THE BEAUTIFUL SIARGAO ISLAND

We continue our Philippines itinerary with five days on Siargao.

HOW TO GET TO SIARGAO

From Bohol to Siargao, we first took a ferry to Cebu with OceanJet. Then we caught a short flight from Cebu to Siargao. Another option would be to fly from Bohol to Manila and then take a second flight from Manila to Siargao. Sadly, there is no direct connection between these two islands.

The first option is faster and more cost-efficient. After landing in Siargao, you can take a shared van from the airport to General Luna, which is the main tourist town on the island.

WHAT TO DO IN SIARGAO

Enjoy beautiful beaches, go surfing, eat delicious food, go partying, and so much more. Siargao is often called the new Bali. It’s a surfer’s paradise, full of cool, young people. There are many great restaurants, from healthy yoga cafés to stylish dining spots. Many coffee shops serve amazing cappuccinos and more.

Most people come to Siargao for surfing, so there are many excellent schools where you can give it a try. This is the best island in the Philippines to start learning the sport. Even if you’re not a surfer, Cloud 9 is one of the top places to visit on the island. It’s perfect for watching surfers and is also one of the best spots to catch the sunset.

->You can book your surfing class here.

Another great sunset spot is Sunset Bridge. It gets very crowded in the evening, so it’s not ideal if you’re after peace and quiet, but it’s still worth checking out.

The nightlife on the island is also amazing. Almost every night, you’ll find somewhere to go dancing. But if partying isn’t your thing, there is also plenty of peace to be found on Siargao. The island is large enough that it’s easy to find a quiet retreat.

There is also a famous palm tree viewpoint you should visit while on the island.

Another popular thing to do in Siargao is island hopping. With KKJ Travel Services, you get to experience a fun island-hopping trip.

The easiest way to get around Siargao is by renting a motorbike, as local tuk-tuks can become expensive.

We included five days in Siargao in our Philippines itinerary because the island offers such a wide variety of activities. Whether you want a relaxing break or an active adventure, Siargao has it all.

WHERE TO STAY IN SIARGAO

We stayed at the amazing Kaimana Resort. It’s a resort that offers both rooms and beautiful villas. We chose to stay in a villa for all five nights, and it was the best decision we made. The villas are very clean, spacious, and private.

We loved spending time on our terrace, reading and relaxing. The resort also has a large pool that’s almost always empty, so it often felt like a private pool.

The location is just outside the town, which makes it quiet and peaceful. This was our favourite accommodation during our trip to the Philippines.

->Check the prices and availability of Kaimana Resort here.

DAY 10-12 OF THE PHILIPPINES ITINERARY – RELAX ON THE BEAUTIFUL BEACHES OF BORACAY

We continue our Philippines itinerary with three days in Boracay. We really wanted to experience perfect turquoise waters, which is why Boracay is included in this Philippines itinerary.

HOW TO GET TO BORACAY

There are, unfortunately, no direct flights from Siargao to Boracay, so you have two options: transfer through Manila or through Cebu. Check which option is more affordable at the time of your trip.

Also, Boracay does not have an airport on the island, so all visitors must take a boat after landing. Many agencies offer this transport. We used Southwest Tours and were really happy with them. They were reliable and fast.

Most hotels in Boracay offer transport, but it can be more expensive, especially if you want a private transfer.

WHAT TO DO IN BORACAY

There are not many things to do in Boracay, because it is mainly a beach holiday destination. The beaches there are incredible. The main beach in town is not even the best one. The best beach is shared among three five-star resorts: Shangri-La, Crimson Resort, and Mövenpick Resort & Spa. The beach there is amazing.

We spent most of our days relaxing and swimming. When you are in the Philippines, do not forget to wear sunscreen, as the sun is very strong. We actually got badly sunburnt on our first day, even though we were lying in the shade.

The town in Boracay is also amazing. There are many bars and restaurants, and the main walking promenade is right on the sandy beach. It is truly a unique tropical paradise, but it can get very crowded.

There are also other activities available, like the amazing sunset cruise with water activities.

WHERE TO STAY IN BORACAY

We did a lot of research about where to stay in Boracay, because our priority was a beautiful beach. We stayed at Mövenpick Resort & Spa, and I must say it was not our favourite hotel, but the beach was perfect.

If you want to experience a better but more expensive stay, the hotels that share the same beach are Shangri-La and Crimson Resort.

DAY 13 OF THE PHILIPPINES ITINERARY – THE VIBRANT MANILA

The last night of our Philippines itinerary is in Manila.

Most people say that Manila is not worth visiting and that you should skip it, but we decided to include it in our Philippines itinerary because we wanted to experience it ourselves and form our own opinion.

WHAT TO DO IN MANILA

If you are following our Philippines itinerary, you are staying in Manila for only one night. It is not a lot of time, but you can still experience a little bit of the city. You should visit Intramuros, which is the oldest district in Manila. There are remains from the Spanish colonial period, and we really enjoyed our time there. If you are not comfortable doing it on your own, you can also check out this guided tour with very good reviews.

The second place we recommend is SM Mall of Asia, which is the largest mall in the Philippines and one of the largest in Southeast Asia. However, our favourite shopping centre in the Philippines was Greenbelt.

The easiest way to get around Manila is by using Grab. It is affordable, and there are always many drivers available. Just keep in mind that there is a lot of traffic. This is especially important if you need to catch a flight, so make sure you go to the airport early.

WHERE TO STAY IN MANILA

We stayed at The Belamy House. It is not a luxurious place, but it is worth the affordable price. For us, it was important to stay in the Makati area because it is the safest, so we suggest you stay in that area too.

->Check the availability and prices.

ABOUT OUR PHILIPPINES ITINERARY

This itinerary was created to explore as much as possible in 13 days in the Philippines. We did our trip at the end of April and the beginning of May, and we had perfect weather the entire time.

The Philippines truly is a unique country to visit, and it was one of our favourite beach holidays. With our thirteen-day itinerary, you will discover beautiful nature, stunning beaches, and a glimpse of everything the Philippines has to offer.

Our Philippines itinerary is ideal if you are a nature lover or beach enthusiast. In this itinerary, we tried to include as much as possible for you to enjoy the Philippines.

Our favourite time to visit is in February when the city is quieter and there are fewer tourists. It is the perfect opportunity to enjoy Barcelona’s charm and beauty without the summer crowds. Traveling in the low season gives you more space to truly take in everything this incredible city has to offer.

WHAT TO SEE IN BARCELONA?

1. SAGRADA FAMILIA

Barcelona is most famous for the breathtaking Basilica de la Sagrada Familia, a masterpiece of Antoni Gaudí. This architectural marvel is simply spectacular. You have to take a slow walk around the basilica to fully appreciate the details, from the towering spires to the beautiful façades.

Every corner reveals something new, from carvings to stunning stained glass. It does not matter if you are interested in art or architecture, Sagrada Familia is so amazing that everyone will be mesmerised. We also recommend that you book the tickets to visit the inside.

2. GO TO PARK GUELL

Another must-see Gaudí masterpiece is Park Güell. Many visitors visit this famous colorful bench here at the park for that perfect Instagram shot. The space there is limited, so it is really hard to take a photo without other people.

But the park’s real magic lies elsewhere, so after you take a photo of the bench, do not forget to walk around the park and enjoy its beauty and panoramic views of the city.

You have to take your time exploring its pathways and discovering hidden artistic details that make Park Güell a true Barcelona highlight! ->You can get your tickets here.

3. VISIT CASA BATLLÓ AND CASA MILÀ

Speaking of Gaudí, you can also visit his remarkable creations, Casa Batlló and Casa Milà. Both buildings showcase Gaudí’s genius with their unique designs, from the flowing curves of Casa Batlló’s façade to the wave-like architecture of Casa Milà.

You have to take a tour inside to truly appreciate the creativity and innovation behind these masterpieces.

Both are perfect examples of Gaudí’s ability to blend art, nature, and function. This makes them essential stops for any visitor exploring Barcelona’s rich architectural heritage!
->You can get your Casa Batlló tickets here.
->You can get your Casa Milà tickets here.

4. GO ON A LOCAL GUIDE WALKING TOUR IN BARCELONA

If you are planning a trip to Barcelona, this city walking tour is a must! It is led by a knowledgeable local guide. You will explore the charming Gothic Quarter, visit iconic spots like the Barcelona Cathedral, and uncover hidden gems that most tourists miss.

With flexible booking options and excellent reviews, it is an unforgettable way to experience the essence of Barcelona. Don’t miss out on this adventure—book your spot today!

5. CARMEL BUNKERS

Barcelona is amazing from every angle, but even more so from above. One of the hidden gems that offers the best views of the city is the Carmel Bunkers. From the Carmel Bunkers, you will have a panoramic view of Barcelona.

Don’t forget to bring some water, as there aren’t many shops nearby. It is a peaceful spot to enjoy a quieter side of the city, away from the crowds, and truly worth the trek!

6. GOTHIC QUARTER

Visiting the Gothic Quarter in Barcelona is like stepping back in time. This historic neighbourhood is filled with narrow streets, charming squares, and centuries-old buildings. You have to take a walk through its maze-like alleys to discover hidden gems like the Barcelona Cathedral, quirky shops, and lively tapas bars.

The Gothic Quarter’s atmosphere is a perfect blend of medieval history and modern energy. It is a fascinating place to explore and experience the heart of the city’s rich cultural heritage.

7. LA RAMBLA STREET IN BARCELONA

Besides Gaudí’s landmarks, there are many other attractions worth visiting in Barcelona, and La Rambla is one of the most famous. You have to take a walk down this bustling street, lined with shops, kiosks, and street performers.

It is always lively and offers a great atmosphere for soaking in the city’s vibrant energy. Here you will be able to find souvenirs but also pickpockets, so watch your belongings.

8. VISIT MERCATO DE LA BOQUERIA

My favourite spot in Barcelona is Mercato de la Boqueria, a vibrant central food market that is always full of tourists. For a more relaxed experience, I recommend heading there early in the morning to enjoy a light breakfast.

You can grab freshly cut fruits or a refreshing smoothie from the many fruit and veggie stalls. Plus, the earlier you arrive, the fewer tourists there will be, so you will have more space to explore and enjoy the market’s flavours!

9. GO TO FLAMENCO SHOW

Experience the magic of authentic Spanish culture at a flamenco show in Barcelona’s historic City Hall Theater. This passionate performance will take you on an emotional journey with music, singing, and incredible dancing by some of Spain’s most talented artists.

Book your tickets now for an unforgettable evening in Barcelona!
->You can find your tickets here.

10. GO TO THE BEACH IN BARCELONA

Barcelona’s seaside location makes it perfect for a beach day. On a sunny afternoon, you can head to the beach, relax in the sun, sip on a coffee, or enjoy a snack by the shore.

Watching the locals learning to surf adds to the laid-back vibe. It is the perfect spot to relax and soak up the Barcelona lifestyle while enjoying the gentle sea breeze. Don’t miss out on this experience when exploring the city!

11. VISIT MONTSERRAT

A visit to Montserrat with a guided tour is amazing. You will enjoy a scenic ride up the mountain by cog-wheel train, take in the breathtaking views, and explore the beautiful Royal Basilica of Montserrat.

The tour also includes a visit to the revered Black Madonna and free time to taste local liqueurs or discover more of the area’s unique history. It is the perfect half-day trip from Barcelona, ideal if you are staying for a longer period. Secure your spot through the link and enjoy a flexible booking!

12. VISIT THE PALACE OF CATALAN MUSIC

WHERE TO STAY IN BARCELONA?

If you really want to enjoy your stay in Barcelona, I recommend searching for a hotel with a rooftop terrace it adds a great bonus to the experience.

We tried two different hotels. The first and more affordable is Motel One Barcelona-Ciutadella. It has beautiful and spacious rooms, but the location is not as central as we would prefer.

The second hotel we tried is Boutique Hotel H10 Montcada, which has smaller rooms, but the location is just perfect and the view from the rooftop terrace is amazing.

THE MYR MARQUÉS HOUSE HOTEL VALENCIA

In Valencia, we stayed at the Marqués House Hotel, which is in a perfect location. The hotel is right in the city centre, but on a quiet street. The hotel is newly built, and our room and bathroom were beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean.

There is also a bar, and we were welcomed with a complimentary drink on arrival.

A highlight not to miss is the rooftop terrace. Unfortunately, we only discovered it on our last day, but had we known earlier, we would have spent more time soaking up the warm winter sun up there.

-> You can check out the hotel here.

Bled is one of the most popular destinations in Slovenia. It truly is amazing and worth visiting. We have visited Bled many times, and there is so much to see and do. Here are our top 9 things to do when visiting Bled.

BEST TOP 9 THINGS TO DO IN BLED

1. WALK AROUND THE LAKE

There are many sights worth seeing nearby. Our favourite activity in Bled is walking around the lake. It takes about an hour along a beautiful pathway right by the water. The walk is easy, and you do not need to be in good shape. As long as you have comfortable shoes, you are good to go!

There are many cute cafes where you can stop and take a break. You will get to enjoy the beautiful scenery. You can also rent an e-bike and cycle around the lake and surrounding area.

2. VISIT THE BLED ISLAND

The island is the reason why Bled is so famous. It is not just another lake, but a really beautiful one with a charming little island. You can visit the Island every day of the year.

A hand-made wooden boat called a pletna will take you to the island. There is a fee each way but it is wort the price.

2. MALA OSOJNICA HIKE

My favourite view of Lake Bled is from the top of Mala Osojnica. It’s a hill by the lake with a cute bench at the top. The hike isn’t long, but good shoes are essential because it is quite steep towards the end.

The view is really worth it, and you will have the opportunity to take amazing photos. In the summertime it can get crowded at the top, so be patient.

3. GO FAMILY RAFTING

Bled offers more than just hiking, swimming, and beautiful scenery. For an unforgettable experience in Bled, try a family-friendly rafting adventure—you won’t regret it! This rafting is suitable for everyone and perfect for kids and families.

On hot summer days, it offers the best refreshment you can imagine. The best part is that all the necessary equipment, pickups, and return transport to and from Bled are included in the price. You only need to bring a towel and a swimsuit. ->Check the availability here.

4. VISTI BLED CASTLE

For amazing views of Bled Island, hike up to Bled Castle. It is perched high on a cliff but it is not a long hike to the top. For an even better experience, book yourself a lunch or a sunset dinner in the restaurant at Bled Castle. You will have the most romantic meal with a beautiful view.

The restaurant also offers vegan-friendly dishes!

5. GO ON A DAILY TRIP TO BOHINJ

If you are staying for a few days, you can go on a day trip to Lake Bohinj. This is another beautiful and even larger lake in this part of Slovenia. Lake Bohinj offers many activities; if possible, it’s even better to spend a few days there rather than just one.

While buses are available, renting a car is the easiest way to get there.

->We found the best deals for renting a car in Slovenia with Discover Cars.

6. VINTGAR GORGE

Vintgar Gorge is one of the most beautiful gorges we have ever visited. The gorge is 1.6 km long, and there is a trail that takes you to a beautiful waterfall at the end. In some parts, wooden bridges make the trail even more picturesque. It is essential to wear good shoes because some parts can get a bit slippery.

The most fun way to visit Vintgar Gorge is to rent an e-bike and cycle through the beautiful nature to get there. The best-rated deals are with Pr1motours!

->Book the most fun way of visiting Vintgar Gorge.

7. GO SWIMMING IN LAKE BLED

If you are visiting in the summer, it is the perfect place for a refreshing swim. You cannot swim wherever you like, but there are a few beaches around the lake that allow swimming.

You can swim for free at Mala Zaka or Velika Zaka, but there is also Grajsko kopališče, a natural bathing area that requires an entry fee but offers waterslides, a diving board, playgrounds, and much more.

8. GO WINE TASTING

If you want to get to know famous Slovenian wines, you have the option to go on a wine-tasting tour. You will learn about Slovenian wines in a 100-year-old wine cellar. This is also a great activity if you happen to visit Bled on a rainy day.

->Check the available dates for a wine-tasting tour.

9. GO CANYONING

For the more adventurous types, Bled is an ideal location for canyoning. You will have the chance to hike, abseil, and jump into natural pools for an energizing outdoor experience.

->We found one of the best-rated canyoning tours that is really worth checking out.

WHERE TO STAY IN BLED

Affordable – Rudi Hiti’s Guest House

This is a very affordable and highly-rated accommodation in the area. You can book a room without a kitchen or a studio. Both options have private bathrooms.

Welcome to Taipei, where tradition meets modernity in the most fascinating ways. From towering skyscrapers and bustling night markets to serene mountains and historic streets, Taipei offers a diverse range of attractions for every explorer. Discover the top things to do in the city.

For some attractions around Taipei, it is advisable to rent a car. Renting a car for two days is ideal for visiting Taipei, allowing you to take a day trip to Pingxi Old Street, Shifen Waterfall, and Jiufen, and visit Yehliu Geopark on the other day. We rented a car through Klook and couldn’t be happier with their services.

Other attractions in Taipei are easily accessible by public transport.

WHERE TO STAY IN TAIPEI

Hoi An is surrounded by beautiful rice fields and offers many delicious vegan restaurants. This charming and historic town is our favourite city in Vietnam.

Hoi An is truly a unique Vietnamese city, close to the ocean and beautiful nature. Every night, the town transforms into a magical place. Colorful lanterns light up the streets and the river. This tradition is especially beautiful during the monthly Lantern Festival, but you can enjoy the sight any evening.

WHERE TO STAY IN HOI AN?

We found the perfect place to stay in Hoi An, the hotel is Little Oasis – An Eco-Friendly Hotel & Spa. It is ideally located just outside the old town with beautiful river views. It was a true oasis and one of our favourite accommodations in Vietnam.

The hotel offers beautifully designed rooms and suites. Some of the rooms have the most amazing views of the river and water buffalo. Two rooftop pools offer views of nature. In this hotel, you will find a perfect blend of luxury, comfort, and authentic local experiences.

When we come back to Hoi An, we will definitely book the Little Oasis Hotel again.

The staff goes above and beyond to ensure every guest has a comfortable and memorable stay at the Little Oasis Hotel.

VEGAN FOOD IN HOI AN

Our top tip? Learn the Vietnamese word “chay.” This term means “vegetarian” or “vegan” in English and stands for plant-based meals without animal products. Knowing this word will make exploring vegan restaurants in Hoi An a breeze. You can also go on a vegan food tour with Momo travel company!

Here are our favourite restaurants:

SHAMBALLA VEGETARIAN BISTRO

Shamballa Vegetarian Bistro is a hidden gem in the beautiful city of Hoi An. This vegetarian restaurant offers mostly vegan dishes. With locations all over Vietnam, their food is one of our favourites.

Their menu takes you through different regional cuisines, allowing you to explore the traditional flavours of Vietnam. We tried a few different dishes, and all of them were amazing.

Our favourite from the menu was “Tales of the Old Town,” which included steamed coconut rice cakes and a Hoi An specialty, Cao Lau. This is a restaurant you cannot skip when visiting this town!

ELLIE’S CAFE HOI AN

Ellie’s Cafe Hoi An is a family-run café serving healthy, clean-eating dishes with many vegan options. We ordered scrambled tofu and a smoothie bowl. The scrambled tofu was good, but the smoothie bowl was our favourite—it was the best we had in Hoi An.

Other options on their menu include peanut butter toast, Buddha bowl, falafel bowl, and oatmeal pancakes. You can also order my favourite iced-blended coconut coffee in a vegan version.

PEANUTS – VEGAN VIETNAMESE FOOD IN HOI AN

At Peanuts, you can savour traditional Vietnamese vegan and vegetarian cuisine. They use locally grown ingredients whenever possible, making it one of our favourite restaurants in Hoi An.

The portions are huge, and the food is amazing. You can choose your base and then pick from a variety of delicious sides. We also tried their sourdough vegan chicken banh mi.

Their selection of desserts is delightful, but my favourite item was their Vietnamese coconut coffee. It was the best one I had in the whole of Vietnam.

V VEGAN RESTAURANT IN HOI AN

V Vegan Restaurant is located right in the heart of Hoi An’s old town. If you can get a table outside, the ambiance is amazing, as you sit on the walking street and watch people stroll by.

Their menu offers a wide selection of delicious vegan dishes. We tried several and loved most of them. Our favourite was the tofu and mushroom bun noodle curry.

ROSIE’S CAFE

Rosie’s Cafe is a famous breakfast spot in Hoi An. The cafe is named after the main character Rosie Dunne, from the movie “Love, Rosie.”

Although the menu is not entirely vegan, it is carefully curated with both taste and nutritional value in mind, using fresh and local ingredients. All their smoothie bowls are vegan. For breakfast or brunch, you can also enjoy tofu scramble, oatmeal, vegan pancakes, and a veggie wrap.

MINH HIEN VEGETARIAN RESTAURANT

Minh Hien is a vegetarian restaurant offering mostly vegan options. They serve a local specialty called white rose, which is not found elsewhere. We tried it, and it was delicious.

We also ordered fresh spring rolls and pho. The restaurant is affordable with great food, and you can even take a cooking class there.

LE HOI VEGETARIAN BREAD

Le Hoi offers one of the most affordable vegan dishes in Hoi An. Their vegan banh mi, a Vietnamese sandwich, combines a crispy, airy baguette filled with various ingredients, offering a blend of French and Vietnamese flavours. It is a delicious mix of savoury, sweet, and spicy elements.

ROM VEGETARIAN BISTRO

ROM Vegetarian Bistro offers mostly vegan dishes with generous portions and very tasty food. You can try many traditional Vietnamese dishes as well as other Asian cuisines. The menu offers a lot of variety, and the staff are very friendly.

THON DA AM – VEGETARIAN RESTAURANT AND COFFEE SHOP

Thon Da Am is a charming coffee shop and vegetarian restaurant in Hoi An’s old town. I recommend going upstairs to eat on their cute wooden balcony overlooking the pedestrian street.

Though their menu does not offer a lot of options, we tried the pho, and it was very good.

MANGO CAKE IN HOI AN

While strolling through Hoi An’s old town, you’ll come across street vendors selling mango cake, also called Banh Xoai. We learned that it is vegan. Despite its name, it has nothing to do with mango.

It is more like mochi, filled with sweetened and crushed peanuts. By buying it, you also support local vendors. It is a great and very affordable snack.

VEGAN COOKING CLASS IN HOI AN

We attended the famous Chickpea Eatery vegan cooking class in Hoi An. The class began with a tour of the local market, which was our favourite part. You learn so much about the history of Hoi An and the local culture, and they introduce you to the vegan food available in the market and in Vietnamese cuisine.

During the class, we cooked fresh spring rolls, a Vietnamese pancake, and a salad. The cooking class was fun, and we left with a bag full of food. The only thing we would change is having a bit more cooking and less chopping of raw veggies. Otherwise, it is a cooking class you cannot miss when visiting Hoi An!

In Hoi An, you will find a blend of traditional flavours and modern culinary creativity in vegan food. If you decide to eat at a dedicated vegan restaurant or explore the food markets, you will love the food here. Taking a cooking class in Hoi An is also a fun thing to do.

New York has a lot of vegan restaurants, and it is one of our favourite cities to visit. There are countless things to see and do. In this guide, there are just a few of our favourite vegan restaurants in New York.

WHERE TO STAY IN NEW YORK

Hotels in New York are expensive, so be prepared for this to be the most costly part of your trip. For the same amount of money, you could enjoy a luxurious experience in other parts of the world.

We chose to stay at the M Social Hotel New York because we wanted beautiful views and a good location. The hotel even has a terrace overlooking Times Square. We found the location very convenient, and the view from our room was great.

I recommend staying on the top floor for amazing New York views. ->You can check the prices here.

BEST VEGAN RESTAURANTS IN NEW YORK

Portion sizes in most New York City restaurants are large. Even sharing a starter was sometimes too much for us to finish our main course. At the beginning of our trip, we always ordered a starter, but after two days, we realised we couldn’t eat that much, so we started ordering only main courses.

Vegan restaurants in New York are also not very affordable, but in an expensive city, this is to be expected. The best way to find all the vegan restaurants in the city is by having a local SIM card. We used the Airalo app with an eSIM card, which was affordable and had a very good connection.

SPICY MOON – EAST VILLAGE – NEW YORK VEGAN RESTAURANT

Spicy Moon was our favourite vegan restaurant on our New York City trip. We visited the East Village location, but they also have spots in the West Village and Bowery.

Their menu offers many amazing vegan Szechuan dishes. We tried the Dan Dan Noodles and the Vegetable Wonton Soup. The soup was one of the best I’ve had in a long time, especially on a cold, rainy day. The noodles were also delicious. I can’t wait to go back and try all the other dishes.

PLANTA QUEEN NOMAD- NEW YORK VEGAN RESTAURANT

Planta Queen is a popular and trendy vegan restaurant in New York. They care about environmental sustainability, ensuring all their produce and supplies are delivered in reusable containers to reduce waste.

We decided to try this restaurant on a Friday night for dinner. The ambiance was really nice. I recommend making a table reservation if you decide to visit them on weekends.

From their sushi menu, we tried the crispy mushroom hand roll, spicy tuna hand roll, and dragon roll. It was some of the best vegan sushi we have ever tried.

Next, we ordered Singapore noodles and General D’s cauliflower, which were both good. For dessert, we shared a cookie, but it was not the best vegan cookie we have ever had. You also have to try some of their amazing cocktails.

UT47 MANHATTAN

UT47 Manhattan is a breakfast and brunch restaurant in New York. While it is not entirely vegan, it has amazing vegan breakfast options.

Their menu features various vegan sandwiches and bagels. You can also order plant-based soy chicken tacos or mandu. We had a bagel with tofu bacon, vegan egg and cheese, avocado, tomato, and a vegan BLT. It was a great start to our New York trip, and they served excellent coffee with oat milk.

VITO’S SLICES AND ICES – NEW YORK VEGAN PIZZA

You haven’t truly been to New York if you haven’t had a pizza slice. Vito’s only offers one vegan pizza, a classic margherita with vegan cheese, but it was great, especially with a Diet Coke. You really have to visit this place for the retro vibes.

LUANNE’S WILD GINGER – NEW YORK VEGAN RESTAURANT WITH ASIAN FLAVOURS

LuAnne’s Wild Ginger is a vegan Asian restaurant with many locations across the city. We visited the one in Little Italy/Soho. Their menu offers a variety of great dishes, from different types of noodles to rice bowls and more.

For a starter, we shared the stuffed tofu skin wraps, which were delicious. Then we had vegan Pho. The Pho was very good, but the portion was so large that we couldn’t finish it. It was the biggest Pho I’ve ever had.

LIBERTY BAGELS MIDTOWN – NEW YORK VEGAN BAGELS

Bagels are a must-try when visiting New York City. Liberty Bagels is one of the most popular spots, known for its rainbow bagels. They offer many different types of vegan tofu cream cheese, including vegetable, plain, scallion, cinnamon walnut, blueberry, and strawberry.

We tried a sesame bagel with spinach and artichoke tofu cream cheese. Just keep in mind that the waiting line is quite long, but it moves quickly. We were even able to find a seat inside.

JAJAJA MEXICANA VEGAN

Jajaja Mexicana is a vegan Mexican restaurant with several locations across New York. We visited the one in the West Village. We were thrilled to find a plant-based Mexican restaurant in the city.

For dinner on a weekend, I recommend making a reservation because the place is packed. We tried the enchiladas mole and chorizo burrito. The burrito was our favourite – you have to try it!

THE ORIGINAL BUDDHA BODAI KOSHER VEGETARIAN RESTAURANT

The menu at Buddha Bodai is vegetarian, with most dishes being vegan. We ordered dumplings, steamed rice rolls, and steamed buns for starters.

They were okay, but our favourite was the main dish: tofu skin with vegetables. It was so good that next time we visit the city, we will go straight back for that.

RED BAMBOO VEGAN RESTAURANT IN NEW YORK

Red Bamboo has an extensive menu featuring many different dishes, from sandwiches and burgers to noodles. They have a lot of faux meat dishes, and we heard that their vegan chicken is amazing.

We tried the Southern fried chicken, which is herb-breaded soy chicken with two drumsticks and a choice of two sides. The other dish we ordered was coconut chicken. I must say, the food was really good. For dessert, we had a cheesecake, which was also delicious.

VAN LEEUWEN’S VEGAN ICE CREAM IN NEW YORK

On a hot day, we came across Van Leeuwen, which has many locations in New York. It’s an ice cream shop that also offers vegan options. Some of the plant-based flavours include dark chocolate fudge brownie, strawberry shortcake, cookies & cream, chocolate chip cookie dough, and peanut butter brownie honeycomb.

We tried the strawberry shortcake and a spring special with spirulina. If you like heavy and sugary ice cream, you’ll love it, but it wasn’t our favourite.

PRET A MANGER VEGAN IN NEW YORK

For a quick plant-based bite, you can stop by one of the many Pret A Manger locations across New York City. You can try their rainbow veggie sandwich or a falafel and hummus wrap.

Hanoi is a vegan paradise, the city offers a wide variety of plant-based restaurants. You will be able to try charming, intimate cafes or sophisticated dining spots, there is something for everyone in Hanoi!

Our top tip? Get to know the Vietnamese word “chay.” This term, meaning “vegetarian” or “vegan” in English, stands for plant-based meals without animal products. Spotting this word will make exploring vegan dining options in Hanoi a breeze.

WHERE TO STAY IN HANOI?

Hanoi offers many luxurious and affordable hotels. Our top recommendation? Make the Old Quarter your home base. Nestled in the historical heart of Hanoi, you will find that everything worth seeing is just a short walk away, allowing you to explore the city’s authentic charm.

Our favourite hotel that we stayed in the city is the Peridot Grand Luxury. This hotel is stunning, with an amazing rooftop pool and bar that promise both relaxation and city views. It is also very clean and comfortable.

Our next best option, where we spend two nights, is the Meritel Hanoi. This hotel also features a rooftop bar and pool, offering a perfect blend of luxury and leisure. It is also a little bit more affordable.

For those on a tighter budget, don’t worry—we’ve got you covered. The Golden Rooster Hotel is a more wallet-friendly option without skimping on comfort and convenience. This hotel is also very beautiful, but it does not offer a pool.

VEGAN FOOD IN HANOI

Discovering plant-based restaurants in Hanoi is easy. There are a lot of restaurants that are vegan-friendly. If you want a quick, wallet-friendly meal or are planning a special evening out, Hanoi has you covered.

Here are some of our top vegan restaurants in Hanoi:

BANH MI CHAY – HANOI VEGAN

It is a popular spot in Hanoi to have vegan banh mi. Banh mi is a Vietnamese sandwich that combines a crispy and airy baguette filled with a variety of ingredients, offering a blend of flavours from French and Vietnamese cuisines. It is a delicious mix of savoury, sweet, and spicy elements.

With 20 different filling combinations to choose from, deciding can be tough but exciting. Beyond the banh mi, they also serve a variety of other snacks. It is a great spot if you want to experience some traditional Vietnamese food.

HANOI VEGAN BANH MI

Tucked away in a narrow alley, this hidden gem is a must-visit vegan restaurant in the city. This was probably one of the best meals we had in Vietnam.

We had banh mi and pho, which is a classic Vietnamese dish consisting of broth, rice noodles, and herbs. It is known for its aromatic spices like star anise, cinnamon, and cloves. In plant-based restaurants, the meat is usually replaced with tofu. This restaurant is also very affordable.

KATZE – HANOI VEGAN & VEGETARIAN

When wandering through Hanoi’s Old Quarter, making a stop at Katze Vegan & Vegetarian is a must. It is a bit hidden, up on the second floor of a building, but luckily, some friendly locals helped us find the entrance. It is one of the best-rated vegetarian restaurants in Hanoi.

What’s really special here is that you get more food than what you order. The owners give you extra goodies like tofu, rice, veggies, and soup for free. So, you end up having a big, tasty meal. It is definitely a place you should check out in Hanoi, it is also very popular.

GREEN INN – HANOI VEGAN RESTAURANT

Nestled in the lively heart of the city, Green Inn serves up traditional Vietnamese cuisine with a vegan twist. All the dishes are made with quality ingredients with clear origins.

Try their hearty pho or a crunchy banh mi. In Green Inn, you will find a rich menu that features a variety of noodles, curries, and even a hot pot.

ƯƯ ĐÀM CHAY IN HANOI

If you’re in the mood for something fancier, Ưu Đàm Chay is the spot. This restaurant stands out with its stylish decor and a wide, varied menu. It is pricier than other vegan and vegetarian places in Hanoi, but for a special date night, it is perfect.

The staff is really attentive, asking about food preferences and allergies to help guide you through the menu. Because of that, you get exactly what you are looking for, especially if you want to make sure that the food you order is really vegan. The food is generally good, though not every dish hits the mark considering the price.

2 CREAM – HOMEMADE ICE CREAM

Dreaming of ice cream in Hanoi? We stumbled upon this shop right by the lake, serving up a selection of vegan flavours—a rare find in Vietnam, making us super excited about our choices.

They offer salted caramel, vanilla Oreo, mango, peanut butter, pistachio, almond milk chocolate, and raspberry sorbet. So, if you are looking for a sweet treat that is also vegan, this is the place to go!

CHAYFOOD AND DESSERT

ChayFood and Dessert is a great place for vegan food, healthy sweets, and local dishes in Hanoi. You can start with tasty appetizers like soup, salad, spring rolls, and porridge. For the main meal, there is a lot to choose from, including pho, banh mi, pesto pasta, Thai curry, and hotpots.

Our favourites are the fresh spring rolls with peanut butter sauce and the brown rice noodles with mushrooms. These dishes are not only delicious but also good for you.

IVEGAN SUPERSHOP IN HANOI

It is a cool, modern vegan cafe that is all about living healthy and balanced. It is not just a place to eat; they’ve got a restaurant, a co-working space, and a coffee shop all in one. And it is not only in Hanoi; you can find them in Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City too.

Their menu is packed with awesome breakfasts like overnight oats and smoothie bowls. But that’s not all—they offer lots of healthy salads and burgers, plus tasty sourdough toast with different toppings. And their drinks menu is just as big as their food menu, so there is something for everyone.

CÁI MÂM BISTRO SIGNATURE VEGAN

This restaurant brings a top-notch dining experience, focusing on nutrient-rich meals that are as good for you as they are for the planet. This restaurant takes vegan eating to the highest level, with even their wines being vegan-friendly.

You’ll find a diverse menu here, from fresh spring rolls and green curry to innovative dishes like tofu ragu with quinoa. There’s also a buffet option, giving you the chance to sample a wide variety of dishes for a fixed price.

WHAT TO DO IN HANOI?

Hanoi, a city where chaos meets charm, offers countless unforgettable experiences. It stands out as a truly unique destination. One of the highlights of our trip was exploring the famous train street.

For an authentic experience, head to Railway Café Tuan. You can find their WhatsApp number on Google to message the owner about the train schedule.

Another adventure not to be missed is a one-night cruise to Halong Bay. We chose the spectacular Capella cruise, and it did not disappoint.

They served us delicious vegan food on board, making it a highly recommended choice for anyone looking to explore the natural beauty of Vietnam while enjoying great food.
